how to make a perfect tea latte at home
Where have tea lattes been all our lives? The iconic tea flavors we all know and love are now whipped up into cozy, frothy, how-does-it-smell-so-good-in-here mugs of happiness. Team Cool Story is obsessed – and we're doing everything we can to get our fill.
As is the case for so many of our favorite beverages, tea lattes reached us courtesy of Cup of Communitea's Justine Duquette. Using a matcha press, Justine has perfected the art of turning tea leaves into special latte powders that give our homemade beverages a glow-up. But here's the best news of all: With a little know-how, making a tea latte at home is easy. And we've got everything you need to know to make hot or cold tea lattes, straight from the tea latte GOAT herself.
tea latte step-by-step guide
- 1 tsp. tea latte powder – pick a fave from the sampler set
- 2 oz. hot water
- Milk frother
- 12 oz. milk
- Sugar, to taste (optional)
☕ To make a hot tea latte
Add tea latte powder with 2 oz. of hot water. Using a frother, mix until foamy. Heat 12 oz. of the milk of your choice – once it's hot, pour the milk into your latte base mixture. Finish with sugar, to taste.
*High-fiving yourself if not required, but strongly encouraged.*
🧊 To make a cold tea latte
Add tea latte powder with 2 oz. of hot water. Using a frother, mix until foamy. Add 12 oz. of cold milk – and sugar if you're feeling extra sweet. Stir everything together. Pour over ice and finish with sugar, to taste.
